Colin N Wallace April 10 2021

Obituary
Colin Nelson Wallace left us all too soon in his 88th year on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on July 17, 1932 and raised on the homestead in West Jerusalem – nowhere else was “home” to him. In 1953 the Canadian Armed Forces expropriation of the family homestead was completed and the Wallace family moved to Clarendon, where he met a certain young lady from Welsford who would steal his heart.
He was predeceased by the love of his life Georgina (Burton) on December 29, 2018. His younger brother, Victor, older sister Freda, his parents Charles & Beatrice and son-in-law Arnie Nagel, brothers-in-law Fred McCully & Jim Fudge.
Colin is survived by his daughter Marie; son Brent & Marlene; granddaughters Amy & Tony Nelson, Maggie Hamilton, Jessica Hamilton & Chris Wetmore; great grandchildren Casey & Ella Ogden, Avery Nelson, Tucker & Rowan Godin & Hazel Wetmore; his brothers Foster & Reay, Rueban & Lorna; sisters Rose McCully & Joyce Fudge; cousin Bernice Patterson; sister-in-law Marlene Williams and many nieces & nephews on both the Wallace & Burton sides of the family.
A heavy equipment operator by trade, it has been said he could grade any terrain absolutely level with his skills at the helm of a road grader. Colin had an easy going way about him, loved to tell stories about his escapades on the homestead with his brothers & sisters and adventures in heavy equipment operations through the years at Department of National Defence, CFB Gagetown, Dept. Of Transportation & F.C Alexander.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). As per Colin’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. His thought was if you couldn’t come see him when he was alive you needn’t bother now. He sure did love it when family & friends would drop in and chat, exchange stories where there would always be laughter involved.
If anyone would like to make a donation in his memory, kindly consider The Church of the Resurrection, Grand Bay Westfield or The Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary (the Brighten Group).
Our family would like to thank Dr. Luan Le and the staff of 5CS – all of whom went above and beyond their role as health care providers in the past weeks. You not only cared for your patient – you cared for our family with warm blankets in the night, kind words of comfort & caring gestures even in the very restrictive & frustrating COVID rules.
