Surrounded by loving family, Cliff graduated to his heavenly home on September 19, 2021. Cliff was born in Port Alberni to parents Pauline and Joseph Neyedli. He was raised there along with siblings Terry (Connie), Lois (Ron), Kathy (Ron) and Joslyn. On October 7, 1967, Cliff married his sweetheart, Sheila Thomson, and they were blessed with four wonderful children: Sherilene (Arnie/Michael), Christopher (Jen), Kathleen (David) and Trevor (Evangeline). His grandchildren brought him so much joy – Justice, Calvin, Daphne, Alexa, Devon, Shenelle, Gabrielle, Rose, Brittany, Jeremiah and Mattieu. Cliff loved his family and his heart welcomed all he met.
Cliff enjoyed a full life. He attended Alberni District High School and enjoyed cross country running. Cliff loved to ride his bike! He had many adventures as he cycled across Canada in 1965. There were also countless family camping trips, hunting trips, and family time spent enjoying the communities in which he lived. Cliff was a hard working husband and father, often working multiple jobs to support his family. Together with Sheila, they built/renovated over 100 projects. He retired from Longshoring after working 45 years originally in Port Alberni and then Vancouver (ILWU Local #500). In 1989, he founded CAN-AM Home Inspections, completing over 10,000 home inspections.
Cliff was a loved member of his community and church. He served at Burnaby North Baptist, Calvary Baptist, Pastoral Care at Eagle Ridge Hospital, Kihei Baptist and most recently at St. Mark Ocean Park Anglican Church. He was honoured to be a founding member of the Lincoln Toastmasters in the Tri-Cities, and enjoyed his involvement with The Rock Toastmasters, Full Gospel Men’s Association and serving others through Pastoral Care programs. Very close to his heart was his 28-year fundraising involvement with the BC Lung Association’s Bicycle Trek for Life and Breath.
Cliff was a loving, caring and gentle man and always worked to spread joy and happiness. Many of his favourite things will now hold special memories in ours: sunrises, sunsets, the moon, the stars, Maui, beach time, cycling, hugs, funny songs, ice cream, chocolate, playing cards with “Cliff Rules”, travelling and choosing to see the best in everyone that crossed his path.
