Christine’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Chris VanWyck, a loving mother, devoted wife, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She left us peacefully in her sleep at home June 13, 2021 at the age of 64, with her loving husband by her side.
Grace Christine VanWyck (Gwilliam), affectionately known as Chris, was born may 1, 1957, in Vanguard, Saskatchewan. Chris eventually moved to Drumheller and on to Calgary. After Meeting the love of her life, Jeff VanWyck, they moved to Spruce Grove. The two were married in 1982 and would call Spruce Grove home for many years before eventually moving to Slave Lake.
They had two children, son JD and daughter Jaimee (Jake) Hobbs. Chris’s grandchildren meant the world to her, and she had a special place in her heart for all her grandkids; Chase, Tyra, Dylan, Kane, and Gracie, along with Lincoln and Marshal Hobbs.
Chris was predeceased by her father, Harry Gwilliam of Baring Saskatchewan and her mother Pearl Gwilliam (Dixon) of Windthorst Saskatchewan. She is survived by sisters Marjorie, Helen (Ed), and Brother Bob.
Chris will be remembered for her warm heart and tenacious spirit. She was a cancer survivor and fought a 20 year battle against Multiple Sclerosis.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made towards the MS Society of Canada.
