Christine “Chrissie” Lock
1932-2021
Christine “Chrissie” (MacRae)
Lock – 88, Truro, passed away peacefully after a
very brief illness, with family at her side, on Wednesday evening,
February 3, 2021, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born
in Baddeck, she was a daughter of the late Charles Roderick and
Catherine Mae (Morrison) MacRae.
Chrissie was a life-time member of Greenwood United Church in
Baddeck. Her teaching career spanned Port Hawkesbury, New Campbellton,
Sydney River, Dartmouth and Windsor, Ontario. She and her husband Jim
returned to Nova Scotia 16 years ago and settled in
Truro.
Chrissie and Jim were soul mates and did everything together;
they loved going to auctions, yard sales and flea markets. She was an
avid collector of “everything” and when not “on the
go” with Jim, she enjoyed knitting, needlework and tending to her
well-manicured flower and shrub gardens.
Chrissie is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, James
“Jim” Lock; siblings, Charlotte LeGrow, Dartmouth; Shirley
Mason, Baddeck; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents,
she was predeceased by her siblings, Roddie (Doris) MacRae, Betty
(Charlie) LeVatte; nephew, Kendall LeVatte; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law.
We suggest everyone take a page from Chrissie’s
book: love your family and friends fiercely; enjoy what you have, no
matter how grand or how humble; find the humour in EVERY situation;
and never leave the house without putting on a little
bling!
Interment will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery,
Baddeck. If so desired, donations in Chrissie’s memory to a
charity of choice are welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of
condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Chrissie’s
obituary on-line and selecting “Send A Condolence”
