Obituary of Chloe Florence Young
Passed peacefully away at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor, Chloe Florence Lulu Young, at the age of 84 years. Chloe was born to Elijah and Melina Dawe on September 8, 1936. During her childhood, Chloe participated in singing company, Corps Cadets Songsters. She enjoyed painting and drawing, and even volunteered at school helping other children learn to paint and draw. Chloe also loved to sew, knit and read, and she especially loved going to the Grand Falls Stadium and spend hours and hours skating around the rink. Chloe often would ride her bike to Bishop’s Falls, and her uncle Sam Dawe would pick her up when he would get off work at the half way point between Bishop’s and Grand Falls-Windsor. Chloe had a generous heart. She loved to pack hampers at Christmastime and give them to those in need. She also knit socks, mitts and caps to send overseas to children in need. Her favorite thing to do was to do things for others. She would often say “I don’t want thanks; I am just happy, doing things for other people”. She always gave of herself, and never asked for anything in return. She will be dearly missed, but always remembered.
Chloe is predeceased by her husband, Hubert; son, Jerry; and parents, Elijah and Melina Dawe. She leaves to mourn her son, Bill (Leona) Young; and daughters, Gladys Steele; and Sharon (Bob) Duffney. Also left to mourn her grandchildren, April (Douglas) McLennon, Bonnie (Christopher) Young, and Jamie Steele; and great-grandchildren, Carly McLennon and Connor Young.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Chloes family Doctor, Dr. Susan Campbell; Twin Town Manor, her family of eight years; The Carmelite House, her family for five years especially D wing, who cared for her and her family lovingly during the past few days; Majors Larry and Judy Goudie of Park Street Citadel, as well as Lorraine White, her dear friend, for all of your love, support, and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Park Street Citadel in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Chloe Florence
