Charley Ratzlaff 2021

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Carl (Charley) John Ratzlaff announce his peaceful passing on July 2, 2021, surrounded by family. Charley was born on August 12, 1931, in his grandmother’s house in Waldheim, SK. Charley grew up on the family farm 3 miles west of Waldheim, together with his parents, Carl & Anne Ratzlaff and his siblings, Lorne, Norma, Gordon, and Orton.
In 1956, Charley married Leona Kampen and they were blessed with 3 children, two girls and one boy. They remained on the farm and enjoyed farming for many years and later retired to Waldheim. Charley enjoyed sports, especially hockey. He was an avid hockey player, coach, and fan. He coached minor and senior hockey and played for the Waldheim Warriors, Rosthern Wheat Kings, and Blaine Lake. Charley and Leona made many trips to BC and later Charley enjoyed touring the countryside and watching the farming in progress.
He leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 65 years, Leona; daughters, Rita (Brian) Janzen, Rhonda Tremblay; son, Dale (Ruth); grandchildren, Nicole Janzen (partner Derek Christians), Jacqui (Cass) Thome, Andrew (Kelly) Tremblay, Michael Tremblay; step grandchildren, Lance Walker, Stephen Froese; and seven great grandchildren.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021. Arrangements are entrusted to Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern, SK (306) 232-5245 (www.funksfuneralhome.ca)
