Charles Kenney 19532021

Charles Kenney
1953-2021
It is with a mix of sorrow and relief that we
announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, husband,
friend, Charles Joseph Kenney, aged 67, of Trenton/Hopewell. Dad was
very peacefully called home on January 6th, 2021 after fighting with a
long list of health problems that just became too much. It seems that
fighting to stay alive is a battle dad fought since he was a small
child dealing with meningitis which left him unable to run and play
like everyone else for the rest of his youth. Dad always felt like he
got the short end of the stick when it came to things like that. But
it didn’t stop him from becoming a decent hard working man
in his adult life. In his working years dad was most proud of his
position as a crane operator at Trenton Works in the 70’s
and again in the 90’s. Though that pride serves him better
if you consider that he would do anything to support his family. There
was nothing any more important to him than the safety and protection
of his wife and children. In his spare time dad loved to hunt, fish,
and of course have a cold beer or a Timmies with friends and family.
Dad was also heavily involved in the running of The Royal Canadian
Legion Branch 28 of Stellarton where he served as Sgt. At Arms, sat on
the executive and held the Presidency, a position he was exceptionally
proud of. Dad was born on January 21 1953 in New Glasgow to How and
Jane (Morrison) Kenney of Trenton, Pictou County. He was predeceased
by both his parents and an older brother Jimmy (1968) who died too
young himself but served as a guiding light in dad’s life.
Dad is survived by his two sons: Jason, Antigonish; and Craig
(Rosemary Nickel), Atwood, ON; the love of his life, Mary (Fitt)
Kenney, Hopewell/Stellarton. He is also survived by his dear sister,
Terry Tree (Mike Teed); brothers: George (Sharon Gillis); Doug (Trish
MacDonald), all of Trenton; and sister, Judy Riley, Halifax. As well,
dad leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Andrea, Adam, and Ashtin Kenney of
Atwood, ON; and many nieces, nephews and friends who have felt his
light hearted spirit and enjoyed his company. Cremation has taken
place. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in
his memory may be made to Valley View Villa Recreation Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral
Home.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Charles Kenney 19532021..
