Charles’ Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Gordon Howse announces his passing on October 18th, 2021 at the age of 96 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his daughter Clarice (Clyde) Pike of Steady Brook, NL. Sons; Glen Howse of Corner Brook, NL and Winston (Cathy) of Gander, NL. Grandchildren; Greg Pike of Steady Brook, Nl. Christie Pike (Ben Hoogendoorn) of Squamish, Bc. Danielle (Chris) McCulloch, St. Johns NL. Evan Howse (Rene Andrews), Matthew Howse of Corner Brook NL. Kelsey Howse of Ontario. Katie (Zach) Howse of Vancouver BC. Kelly (Jason) Stuckless of Paradise NL. Sarah Howse of St. John’s NL. 4 Great-Grandchildren Charlie, Molly, Zoey and Emma. He also leaves a vast number of nieces, nephews and extended family. Also there is his special friend and caregiver Rosemary Burton who was close to his side for the last number of years while in Long Term Care. Charlie is predeceased by his parents Alpheaus and Sarah Howse. His wife Hettie Howse (Nee Feltham). His son Donald Howse and his daughter-in-law Cindy (Hoyles) Howse. His four brothers Douglas, Llyod, Martin and Vernon. Two sisters Violet Perry and Ester Wells. Charlie Loved the outdoors, especially fishing on NL rivers. He loved his church and was a regular Choir member at the Oakland United Chruch. He also played the organ for regular and special services. He never forgot his home of Glovertown NL and cherished his frequent visits there spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband and his children loved and enjoyed his company. Charlie’s family extends an Extra-special thank you to the staff, caregivers and recreation personnel of the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home. He loved and respected each and every one of them, who he proudly referred to them as “Charlie’s Angels”. They all made his time as a resident so comforting for him. In accordance with covid-19 health guidelines, family and friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home 2-4 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 20th, 2021. Funeral services will be held at Oakland United Church on Thursday Oct. 21st, 2021 at 2 pm with interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted. Donations in Charlie’s honour may be made to WMRH Foundation for the LTC department or to a charity of one’s Choice.
