Obituary of Catherine Mary Evans
Catherine EVANS – Passed away peacefully at the age of 99, on Thursday December 23, 2021 at Lanark Place Long Term Care in Kitchener, Ontario. Wife of the late Hugo Evans and daughter of the late Harry and Ann Blacklock.
Catherine is survived by siblings, Harriet Reitzel, Jack Blacklock and Neil Blacklock. She is predeceased by siblings George, Marion, Helen, Agnes, Eileen, Ann and Neil Thomas in infancy.
As a young person, Catherine always valued education. She went on to graduate as a registered nurse, receiving the silver medal at graduation. She continued her education at Catholic University in Washington and at New York University. Catherine worked at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City in cancer research. On her return to Kingston, she spent a short time as Assistant Director of Nurses at Kingston General Hospital before retiring and marrying Hugo.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 29th 11:00 am at St. Joseph Church. Monsignor Joseph Lynch presiding. You must register for this by calling James Reid Funeral Home at 613-544-3411. Due to Covid restrictions numbers are limited and masks are mandatory.
May the Angels and Saints guide her on her way to the arms of God.
