Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and appreciation for a life well lived the family of Catherine Ellen (Purtill) Dyker announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sus, NB on April 10, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Leo and Johanna (Hourihan) Purtill. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Hedley George Dyker; siblings Mary, Evelyn, Jean, Merle, Carson and Francine.
She is survived by her loving children Carl (Cathy), Catherine Denis (Dave), Phyllis Matte (Michael), Dale (Susan), Stephen (Gail), Eleanor Brooks (Mike), Tim (Donna), Tom Dyker, Peter (Traci) and Shawn (Sara); 27 cherished grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Catherine was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She loved picking berries, especially blueberries, she enjoyed quilting, knitting, playing and listening to music and most importantly spending time with her family. Family gatherings with music was the light of her day.
Catherine was a woman of strong faith and instilled her faith in her family.
The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at 4BS and 3BN and Dr. Williamson and Dr. Chris O’Brien for all their care given to our Mom. Special thank you to Brenda Hunter and Shelley O’Donnell, Mom’s very special friends and caregivers.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of Catherine may be made to the St. Patrick’s Cemetery Fund, Bobby’s Hospice, Romero House or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
