Obituary of Carol Edna Maie Allen
Carol Edna Maie Allen (née Bennett), 77 of Berwick, passed peacefully in her home on October 12, 2021. Born in Advocate Harbour on April 3, 1944; Russell and Violet (Morris) Bennett.
Known as Nanny Carol to countless little ones, she was a passionate early childhood educator. She graduated from Froebel Centre, Truro in 1991 and dedicated her life to sharing her wisdom and helping friends feel like family everywhere she went.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family, including her sons John (Heather) and Adrian; siblings Murray (Carol), Willis (Elaine), and Robert; grandchildren Aaron (Bailey), Amanda, Zadoc, and Ben; great-grandchildren Rowan, Keighley, and Lochlan; and many cherished relatives, friends, and honorary family members.
She was predeceased by her adoring “hubby”, Keith Arden; siblings James, Maril, Ross, Wyman, Ruth, and an infant brother and sister; daughter-in-law Angelina, and grandson Finley.
A private funeral service will be held for family and a public celebration of life will be scheduled once COVID restrictions allow. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, any memorial donations may be made in her memory to the IWK Children’s Hospital , Ronald McDonald House , or The Muscular Dystrophy Association . Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
