Obituary
Carole Sandra (Oram) Unsworth
Coxheath
It is with heavy hearts that we, the children of Carole Unsworth, announce her peaceful passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on the morning of October 25, 2021.
Mom was born in Sydney Mines on December 10, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Della Oram (Forrest) and the late William Oram.
Growing up Mom was surrounded by a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins. Mom was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Sydney Mines, where, in her early years, she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir.
Mom went to Normal College in Truro, NS, in 1961 and taught school in Sydney Mines after graduation. Mom lived in various places across Canada where she made lifelong friendships and made it a point to keep those connections after she settled back in Cape Breton in her later years. Mom was an avid Bridge player and loved to take on all challengers in most card games. We loved our mom fiercely as she did us. She was most welcoming to all who came to her home.
Carole is survived by daughter Kelly (Maureen) of Mahone Bay; sons Paul and Brian of Sydney; grandchildren, Tanner, Dawson and Morgan. Mom also loved her grand dogs throughout the years Lulu, Peanut and Franey.
Special thanks for years of true friendship to Glenis Dolomont.
Cremation has taken place. A Funeral to celebrate Carole’s life will be held on Friday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Sydney Mines with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Covid restrictions will be in place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society or to a charity of choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
