A service will be held at the Church on The Ridge at a future date.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Carol Joyce Sager Soule’s peaceful passing on March 7, 2021, surrounded by her family at the Century House in Mystic Quebec. Carol was born on “The Ridge” outside of Stanbridge East in 1927 to Archie and Glenna Sager (née Corey). Carol was the youngest of three girls; sisters Lib (Elizabeth) and Jean predeceased her. Well ahead of her time, Carol was a strong, independent woman, actively involved in women’s sports (mainly softball and tennis) and focusing on establishing her career at The Bank of Montreal before having children. Stanley and Carol married in 1953 and made their home in Mystic, where they raised their two sons, Randy and Scott. After fifteen years as a bank teller in Bedford, Carol moved on to work as a bookkeeper, truant officer, realtor and travel agent, organizing countless trips for seniors. Carol and Stan loved to travel and did so extensively, sharing their passion for adventure with their friends, family, and the local community. Carol enjoyed many happy and healthy years living with her family in their home in Mystic spending her free time with family and friends. She doted on her grandchildren Michael and Rebecca who were lucky enough to grow up with her and she visited her grandsons Hayden and Ben regularly in Ottawa. She was also an ever present, ever giving member of her community. She took on numerous volunteer functions and was a very active member of the local churches, well into her late 80s. When Carol’s health began to decline and the pandemic saw seniors in care homes unable to see family, Carol was blessed to be cared for by Randy and Monica. There is so much more to say about a woman who was as devoted to family and community as she was and it goes without saying that anyone who knew her has their own fond memories of Carol. A service will be held at the Church on The Ridge at a future date. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. J-F Peck, Lynn Larrivée and the CLSC Home Care Service team, who cared for her during her last weeks at home, as well as, the many people who kept her company throughout the pandemic, such as, Jill Heyligen, Martha Tompkinson, Danny Patenaude and countless others. In her memory, a donation in Carol’s name to The Walbridge Conservation Area Fund POB 276 Bedford J0J1A0 (walbridgeconservation.com) would be appreciated. Carol has asked that a maple tree be planted in her memory and hopefully “it will live a long and productive life, just like her’s”.
