Obituary For Carol Jean Richardson (nee Fuller)
July 19, 1938 – May 7, 2021 at the age of 82.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother. She passed away unexpectedly at the QE II Hospital with daughter Kathy and granddaughter Rayna at her side. She is survived by sons; Daniel (Patricia), Gerald (Kimberley), James (Colleen), daughters; Kathleen and Jeanne (Larry), son-in-law Orvel Isaac, sister Marie Hodges as well as 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Carol was predeceased by her husband Ward (Bud), parents Florence Bentley and Carl Fuller, half-brother Ray Fuller, son Jack, daughters Sandra and Rose and great granddaughter Alyssa.
Carol was born in Flint, Michigan and raised in Detroit. She married Bud in 1956, and Bud’s daughter Sandy came to live with them. While living in Flint, Danny and Kathy were added to the family. In 1958 they moved to Houston, Texas where Gerry and the twins; Jack and Jeanne were born. In 1962 they moved to northern Alberta in the Webster area where Rose and Jim were added to the clan.
From large cities to the middle of nowhere northern Alberta. She courageously learned to adapt to her new surroundings where there was no power or running water and raised 8 children.
Carol had many skills. As well as being a mother of 8, and an incredible baker, she also got her pilot’s license in her 40’s. Carol and Bud flew on vacations all over Canada and the United States.
In 1971 she became a Canadian citizen. In 1978 she graduated from GPRC with a diploma in Business Administration with honours. For many years, she worked as a bookkeeper for numerous businesses in Grande Prairie.
We would like to thank the staff and management at Heritage Lodge for the excellent care and kindness they provided for our mother.
