Obituary of Carl Cecil Henderson
HENDERSON, Carl C.
Pictou / Toney River
HENDERSON, Carl Cecil -78, of the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, and formerly of Toney River, passed away December 9, 2021 in the home, where he was a longtime resident. Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late Cecil and Janie (Hislop) Henderson. Carl was a fisherman and also worked on the family farm. Toney River was near and dear to his heart. He was an active member of the community, a regular at the card parties, dances, and barbeques. In his younger days he played hockey for the River John Trailblazers, and also sang in the choir at St. David’s Presbyterian Church. While at the nursing home, Carl spent a lot of time on his exercise bike, following Craig Aucoin’s tour he decided to bike with Craig across Canada. He started in St. John’s, Newfoundland and biked to Vancouver, British Columbia. He is survived by his brother, George (Sherry), Melville; sisters, Agnes MacNeill, and Brenda Thorne-Peckham, both of Pictou; several nephews and one niece. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sister, Shirley Heighton; brothers-in-law, Earl MacNeill, Raymond Thorne and Ralph Peckham. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Shiretown Nursing Home for the wonderful care he received while living there. Donations in Carl’s memory may be made to the Shiretown Nursing Home or St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Carl
