Cairn Boyd 2021

Obituary
Cairn Kathleen Boyd (nee Johnston) passed away at home on November 5, 2021.
Cairn was born to Ben and Gertrude Johnston (nee Cairns) on September 8, 1952 in Calgary, AB. She was the only daughter of 3 children, along with her two brothers Peter and Michael.
Cairn graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelors in Nursing. She worked most notably at the Charles Camsell hospital and the Cross Cancer Institute before leaving her career to focus on taking care of her own young family. Cairn always had a passion for taking care of others and especially loved her kids and grandkids.
Cairn loved to talk to people. She was always interested in the things that were going on in people’s lives and later in life took more of interest in social media as it helped her stay connected to the people she cared about.
Cairn was always very devoted to her family, with some of the best family memories involving Kokanee Beach Motel at Wood Lake in Kelowna which became an annual vacation for her family. She also picked up a love for hockey from her time as a passionate hockey mom and she continued that well after, cheering on the Edmonton Oilers.
Cairn met Michael Boyd while both were attending the University of Alberta. They married in 1974 on May 18.
Cairn and Mike have 3 children, Ryan (married to Wendy Konsorada), Emily (married to Stephen Anderson) and Niall (married to Shannon Starosta) and six wonderful grandchildren, Jade, Keegan, Ryder, Ewan, Cole and Hayden.
A private memorial was held with her close family on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stollery Children’s Hospital.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Cairn Boyd 2021..
