Lovingly Remembered
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Byron Frederick Rogers.
He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Isabelle Rogers and his brother Ron. His loving wife Melicent, Daughters Kim and Debbie (Bob), Grandsons Tyler, Kole and his Great-Grandchildren Kai and Adally will mourn his passing now and forever.
Byron was an amazing man with a great sense of humor. He loved playing jokes on people, and was also a great story teller of the highjinx he and his friends took part while growing up in Indian Head, SK.
He had great memories of the family cottage at Katepwa. He loved spending time on the lake spearfishing, blowing the conch shell that he knew how to blow and could hear it across the lake, especially when his Mom called them in for meals. He was also a great swimmer and at one time was asked if he was a professional swimmer. He was just that good.
He was also a huge history buff when it came to all the world wars. His favorite channel to watch on television was the History Channel. He loved the old black and white movies.
Earlier in his life he had taken flying lessons. Although he never completed the program, he would have liked to have become a helicopter pilot.
Byron worked for Northern Telecom, SaskTel and SaskTel International. At the time of his passing he was working at the Sherwood Forest Golf Course.
He was a great sports enthusiast especially when it came to the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Canadian Women’s Hockey. He played hockey in his younger days and curled with SaskTel. Because of his love of sports, he coached his daughter’s Ringette and softball teams.
We would like to honour the doctors, nurses and staff in the Emergency, Unit 6A and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital. Their dedication, compassion and empathy went above and beyond. They truly are God’s Angels.
A Celebration of his Life was held in the Indian Head Cemetery, Indian Head, SK on Saturday, September 25, 2021 with his immediate family present. A special thank you is extended to Pastor David of St. Andrew’s United Church in Indian Head for officiating at the service.
We would also like to extend special thanks to Kevin and Brent at Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services who helped us immensely. Their professional counselling, wisdom, compassion and empathy have carried us through this difficult time.
There are many Angels in heaven and now we know another one by name:
Byron
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Byron Frederick Rogers September 19th 2021..
