Princeton sadly lost a longtime pillar of the community on September 17th. Bruno Ceccon, known as Chico, peacefully passed away in Kamloops, BC with his loving daughter at his side. Bruno was preceded by his father and mother Emilio and Mira Ceccon and is survived by his daughter Pamela Young, his brothers Rollo (Blanche) Ceccon, Les (Bev) Ceccon and their beautiful families.
Bruno was born in January 1934 in Coalmont, BC. He attended Princeton Secondary School and excelled as an athlete. He loved to play baseball, fastball, basketball and hockey. He was the gentle silent type off the field, court and ice, but a fierce competitor the moment it was game time. He played sports into his adulthood, made fast friends and wonderful memories along the way. Bruno even had invites to the Pittsburg Pirates and Vancouver Canadian training camps, but unfortunately due to a back injury never made the cut.
Chico loved the Okanagan and could be seen driving between Penticton and Princeton in one of his fast sports cars, another love of his. Bruno worked most of his life as a truck driver and after retiring he could be seen on the streets of Princeton as he made his daily coffee run and visits with longtime friends. He also loved to travel to Hawaii, specifically Waikiki.
It is hard to believe he is gone, and we will not see that infectious smile and handsome blue eyes again.
Special thank you to the staff and residents at Mayfair in Kamloops. Jodi at Riverbend Pharmasave, Paramedics at BC Ambulance Service, Royal Inland Hospital Staff on 4 North and the team at Ponderosa. We will be celebrating his life on October 16, 2021, at 1pm at the Princeton Seniors Center. A fund is being established for a memorial bench in downtown Princeton. Due to Covid-19 regulations there will be minimal capacity, guests will need to show proof of vaccinations and facemasks are required to be worn. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to 250-320-1970 after 5:30pm or email pamelayoung29@gmail.com
