Bathurst – Mrs. Brigitte Cowan, wife of the late Nelson Cowan, formerly of East Bathurst, passed away on Friday August 6, 2021, at the Foyer Notre Dame-de-Lourdes, Bathurst at the age of 95.
Born in Petite-Rivière-de-L ’Ile, she was the daughter of the late Médard and Priscille (Chiasson) Chiasson.
She is survived by eight children: Clétus (Claire), and Edward (Gisèle) both of Bathurst, Herman (Ruth) of Janeville, Billy, Johnny and Howard, all of Toronto, ON, May Cowan (Jacques Perron) of Robertville and Gladys Jones (Paul) of Toronto, ON.
15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
Three sisters: Anna Fosse of Florida, USA, Eliza Chiasson of Montréal, QC and Annette Kearns of Toronto, ON.
One brother, Donat Chiasson of Montréal, QC.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by daughters, Betty-Ann, Evelyn (at a young age); brothers and sisters: Virginie, Jeanne, Marie-Ange, Isidore, Georgie, Émile, Jean-Paul and Armand.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday August 11, 2021, for 7 to 9 p.m. at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon, August 12, 2021, at 2 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel. Donations in memory of Brigitte may be made to the Foyer Notre-Dames-de-Lourdes Foundation or a favorite charity.
