Obituary
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Richard Grocott, on December 6, 2021 at the age of 80 years. His battle with Parkinson’s and dementia in recent years showed his courage and determination to always face his life setbacks with a smile. Despite his pain, he always faced each day with love for his family and for a life well lived. Whenever offered just one more chocolate or cookie, the answer was always the same, “oh sure” always with a smile.
Brian grew up in Vancouver, BC. With his parents, Reg and Joyce Grocott and sister, Lynn. His commitment to accomplish all he wanted in life started at the age of 18 on the food floor for Woodwards Department Store. This is where he would meet the love of his life, Sheila, who worked at the deli counter in Woodwards. A true romance bloomed alongside his dedicated 44-year career on the Woodwards and Safeway food floors.
Brian always had a love for cars, from his ‘51 Chevy and multiple MG’s, including his ‘55 MGTF. Many years of touring BC in the MG club and the Rally in the Valley events was truly his passion. His love of the outdoors included many camping, fishing and hiking trips with family and friends.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Joyce Grocott and sister, Lynn Thompson (Doug).
Brian is survived by his wife of 55 years, the true love of his life, his best friend, Sheila; son, Mike and daughter, Trish (Tony) Dixon; granddaughter, Hana Dixon (Cleaver); sister and brother-in-law, Doreen and George Haywood; nephew, Murray Haywood (Heidi, Jaden and Kylie Haywood); niece, Charlene Haywood (Steve Wyke).
Our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Trinity Care Centre for their love and support. Treating us as part of your own family through these years, you will never be forgotten.
