Obituary of Brian (Puff) Mervin FOX
November 3, 1958 – Morley, Alberta
March 1, 2021 – Morley, Alberta
We announce the sudden passing of our father, brother, uncle, and grandfather on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the age of 62 years.
Brian was a man of strong traditional beliefs, and an accomplished horseman who lived out his life in peace at his home in Rabbit Lake. Brian received his education at the Morley Residential Day School in Morley, AB, and continued on to Exshaw School. During his youth he enjoyed playing sports such as hockey and baseball, and participated in Rodeo Saddlebronc and Team Roping. Brian obtained employment in various jobs, such as seismic and mechanics, which led him to rebuild a truck from scratch – an accomplishment he was proud of.
Brian lived out his life participating in traditional ceremonies and supporting his sons’ and nephews’ sporting activities. He would be found cheering and supporting their hockey and baseball teams. He enjoyed spending much of his time giving advice, and was willing to teach and to pass down his knowledge. Some of his pastimes included doing craft-work, such as making hand drum frames and flutes and watching the Calgary Flames as a Forever Fan.
Left to mourn him are his children, Carla, Lonnie, Mervina (Kyle), Orrin ,Natasha (Kelsey), and Leander Rider; siblings, Irene and Clayton Fox, Brenda (Jackson) Wesley, Karen, Jennifer, Clifford (Bernadette), Delia and Marilyn Poucette; uncles, Charlie Rabbit, Lawrence Crawler; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family of the Kaquitts, Benjamin, Beaver, Snow, Bearspaw, Poucette, Wesley-Beaver, and the Twoyoungmen families. We apologize if we have missed anyone.
Brian was predeceased by his grandparents, Jacob and Agnes Rabbit, parents, Joe and Jessie Fox, siblings, Barney, Reg, Jack, Wilfred, Joe Jr. Kent, Mary-Ann, Harriet Fox, Shirley Dixon; grandsons, Phoenix and Bryson Fox; nieces, Tiffany Ear and Glynnis Fox.
