Brian William Gibbs, beloved family man and friend passed quietly on May 6, 2021 at The Ottawa General Hospital having just marked his 89th birthday on May 2nd. Brian is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marianne (nee Barr); children, Christy (Jacques) and Geoff (Janice); grandchildren Janna, Michelle, Jocelyn and Jeremy; and great granddaughter Hailey.
Brian’s love of sports saw him compete at the provincial and national level in track and field, basketball, football, badminton, and his favourite, gymnastics. A graduate of Queen’s University, he went on to work as a Research Physicist at the National Research Council, RCA and finally part of the team that owned and launched the Montreal based MPB Technologies.
Brian and Marianne spent their retirement in the sun with family at the cottage in Carleton Place and their “winter family” at North Beach park in St Augustine, Florida. He loved camping, swimming and staying busy. Always ready to lend a hand with a project or problem he left his mark in many places and on many of us.
Brian, Dad, Super-Grampy, G’Pa, you will be missed!
Family will be celebrating his life at a later date.
