BRESSI, Antonio
1943-2021
Antonio Bressi, beloved father and grandfather, age 77, passed away on February 9, 2021, in Joliette, Quebec.
Believing strongly that « Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, wakes. » Carl Jung, Antonio’s hobbies included flower and rock gardens, fish keeping, the study of Japanese Culture, Ancient European History, World Politics, Religion, Philosophy, Psychology, Poetry, William Shakespeare amongst many others, and he could always be counted upon to quote the perfect turn of phrase for every occasion.
Never one to conform to traditional norms, Antonio lived by the ideology « To thine own self be true. » William Shakespeare, and known for being impeccably honest, could be counted on to say what was on his mind and to unfailingly tread the “Road not Taken” Robert Frost.
Having immigrated to Canada as a small child, one of Antonio’s fondest memories is of his parents’ generosity toward another recently immigrated “paysan” in need and the graciousness Antonio himself received in the form of a warm down coat from a school friend during his first bitterly cold winter. Honoring these values and demarking himself in a subtle but significant way, Antonio in turn, was often known to discreetly lend a helping hand to those in need.
Lovingly remembering his life and continuing his legacy are his daughter Tanya, David (son-in-law), grandchildren Eva Karina and Devan Anthony, and canine children Dix-Loup and Bella. Also mourning his passing is his beloved sister Caterina Ortona, as well as cherished extended family members and precious close friends.
Services will be held at Les Résidences Funéraires Goyer, 105 Boul. Desjardins Est, Sainte-Thérèse, 450 473-5934. Due to COVID regulations, visitation is unfortunately limited to immediate family; however, an online service will be made available for those at home. Invitations to be issued privately.
Your presence at the funeral must be done in compliance with the directives of the Public Health of Quebec with regard to the physical distance of 2 meters and wearing of the mask or face covering is mandatory. A limit of 25 people present in the same room is required.
Having led a simple life, Antonio preferred that flowers remain flourishing in a garden, so instead, please share your generosity with the Canadian Cancer Society.
