Obituary
MacPherson, Bonnie
Peacefully with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer on January 20, 2021, at the age 57 years old. Bonnie’s larger-than-life persona and trademark stubbornness will not be forgotten. She was born on August 11th, 1963 in Cornwall. She was the youngest child of the late Gwendolyn Boudrias and Campbell MacPherson. Affectionately known as BonBon by her friends, Bonnie worked as an Educational Assistant with the UCDSB for 23 plus years. She started her career at The Kinsmen school where she devoted her time to working with special need students. Throughout Bonnie’s career, she was a tireless advocate for the rights and wellbeing for those children who were close to her heart. Bonnie floated around a bit at several schools within UCDSB. Until she finally found her home at CCVS working with the SDC students. Bonnie loved to cook and compare lunches. She would often bring some of her creations to work and share them with her colleagues. Bonnie was renowned for not holding back her opinion and had a knack for “telling it like it is.” She was highly proficient at giving her friends and family members “cute” inappropriate nick names. She always told you the truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear, and was generous to a fault. Bonnie had strong beliefs in which she never wavered. When Bonnie wasn’t at work, she enjoyed spending her time with family and friends in her backyard oasis hosting library club; or watching the Toronto Blue Jays win a game with Gracie and Bubbles by her side.
Bonnie was the cherished sister of Gwen Carriere (late Larry St. Germain) Cornwall, Ken MacPherson (Linda) Toronto, Nancy Saucier (Laurier Sarault) Cornwall, Gary (Buff) MacPherson (Carol) Moose Creek, James MacPherson (Lise) Cornwall, Debbie Grabs (Peter) Moose Creek, Donna Watson (Luc) Apple Hill.
Predeceased by her brother Douglas MacPherson.
Loving aunt and friend to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
Loving God mother of Thomas Grabs, Danny Watson, and Zachary Aubin. Cherished beer and wing buddy, Wayne Aubin. Beloved friend of Elliott McCrae, Brenda Laviolette, Lorraine Montcalm, and Isabelle Joseph. Bonnie is survived by her special pets Gracie and Bubbles
A special thanks to Dr. Clemens and his nurse Fiona of the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Center for all their compassionate care. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date, for a final toast in Bonnie’s honour. As Bonnie always said, “There is always room for Vodka.”
In lieu of flowers, as expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Beyond 21 would be appreciated by the family.
