Blanche’s Obituary
Blanche was a 58 year resident of Labrador City and a faithful soldier of the Salvation Army, Labrador City Wabush Corps for 57 years. Her love for God and her family, and ministry in the Church and her Community were her life. She is known for her gifts of hospitality and intercessory prayer.
Blanche was born in Corner Brook, NL. on March 11, 1932, to Isabelle and Alfred Hutchings. She was the youngest of 9 children and is survived by her brother Clyde Hutchings. Blanche married the love of her life, Gerry (Gerald) Batson on September 6, 1951. Blanche was predeceased by her husband Gerry, June 5, 2004, and daughter Beverly Ann, February 26, 1971. She will be greatly missed by her children: Don (Janet), Linda, Terry, Steve (Debbie) and her 7 grandchildren: Cordell, Chris, Tiffany, Angela, Steve, Adam and Eric, along with her 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was loved by all who knew her.
A visitation was held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
An interment followed on Friday, June 25, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the cemetery
The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 9 at 2:00 PM in the Pentecostal Church.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Salvation Army Labrador West Corps
