Obituary of Bill Rushton
With heavy hearts but with gratitude for a lifetime of memories the family of William Angus Rushton announces his passing which occurred on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Bill was born on October 5, 1949 in Sackville, NB a son of the late Margaret Lillian (Brown) Rushton and Carman Angus Rushton. Oxford, NS was his early home.
He is survived by his wife Sharon (Burton) Rushton; daughter Kelly (Brad) Coughlan of Millbrook, NB, son Carman Rushton (Susan Brown) of Riverbank, NB; grandchildren: Tyler Rushton, Cade and Kathryn Coughlan; his much-loved stepmother Linda and his siblings and their families: Bob, Brian, Debbie, Joanne Hilda, Kim, Jewel, Judy, Alice, Shirley, Joanne Star, Helen Faye, Carmen Lynn, Angela, Trena. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Diane.
Bill enjoyed his career in mining in Sudbury, Pugwash and Sus. He ventured to the Yukon and Toronto at an early age, but the Maritimes and Sharon called him back home. Bill served with the Oxford Fire Department and was a Dragerman. He was also a member of the Branch 20 Royal Canadian Legion. In recent years Bill enjoyed spending time on the Gulf Shore of NS with family and friends.
Arrangements are under the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus, NB, (506) 433-1176. In keeping with Bill’s wishes there will be a private gathering at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Sus.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Sus Sharing Club or to the memorial of your choice. Condolences to the family and donations may be made through WallaceFuneralHome.com
