Obituary of Bill Green
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of William “Bill” Dowell Green on May 21, 2021 at Trochu, AB. Bill was born on September 7, 1924 in Calgary, AB to parents Joe and Florence Green. He was united in marriage to Bernice Marjorie Meers, daughter of Jim and Effie Meers, on November 30, 1948. They made their home on the farm west of Huxley until 2006 when they retired to Trochu. Bill enjoyed a full life of farming, helping neighbors, volunteering, hosting at the Trochu Drop In Centre, traveling and visiting with his many relatives and friends.
He is survived by his son Doug and wife Debbie of Saskatoon, grandsons Ryan of Saskatoon and Jeremy of Warman, SK and daughter Marjorie and husband Ernie Scheunert of Huxley, granddaughter Shannon and grandson Brandon of Calgary. Also his companion Fay Schmidt, sister-in-law Mildred Moore, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Bernie, parents Joe and Florence Green, brothers John and Vernon Green, brother-in-law Clarence Meers, sisters-in-laws Inez and Doris Green and Beryl Meers.
At Bill’s request there will be no funeral service. His ashes will be placed at the family plot at the Arthurvale Cemetery with a small Celebration of Life at the family farm at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trochu Fire Deparment PO Box 447 Trochu, AB T0M 2C0
or Kneehill Ambulance Service PO Box 1360 Three Hills, AB T0M 2A0.
