Beverly Faith
Duncanson – 79, of Hortonville, Kings County, passed away
peacefully in the early morning of October 10, 2021 in the Valley
Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Black River, NS April 2, 1942,
Beverly was one of thirteen raised by the late Edgar and Agnes Weir.
Beverly married the late Basil Duncanson on July 19, 1958 and resided
in Hortonville. She was a well-known member of the community. She
worked alongside her husband, Basil, at Basil Duncanson Enterprises
Limited. In 1968, Beverly and Basil opened Duncanson Ski Doo, which
they owned and operated for many years.
Beverly believed
strongly in family and community involvement. She enjoyed being a
sports mom and sponsoring local community teams. Beverly also enjoyed
a good game of darts, cards, gardening, and a good book. If Stomping
Tom was on the radio, you know she would be doing a little jig. She
enjoyed celebrating with friends and family for any event as laughter
was the best medicine she would say. She loved going for walks with
her dogs and was always happy to see her grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by
her three daughters, Janie (Andre) Merks, Gaspereau; Brenda Duncanson,
Hortonville; Jacqueline (John) Kelly, Toronto; three sons, Craig,
Wolfville, Colin (Rhonda), Hortonville; Brad, Toronto; four
grandchildren, Lacey (Whitney) Merks-Levy, Dre (Katie) Merks,
Christopher Duncanson and Laura Duncanson; four great grandchildren,
Piper Levy, Caeden Merks, Scarlet Merks, and Caroline
Merks.
Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service
for family members will be held in the Willow Bank Cemetery,
Wolfville. The family will host a reception to be held at 1:00 p.m. on
October 23, 2021 at 70 King Street, Hortonville, NS. Donations in
memory can be made to the SPCA – Kings Shelter or the
charity of your choice.
