Donegan, Betty Florence (1924-2021)
Betty Donegan passed on peacefully at the age of 97 on November 24, 2021 at Linhaven Home for the Aged in St. Catharines. She was the beloved Widow of Edward Donegan and beloved Mother of William and Jane.
Betty was born in London England in 1924 and came to Canada in 1947, and, she worked at Lightening Fastener into the early 1950’s.
Betty was a cheerful volunteer and was always involved in activities that supported the community. Betty was an active member of Christ Anglican Church and was involved in many aspects of the church, including the Alter Guild and Parish Council. In 2004 when Christ Church was closed and became part of The Church of the Transfiguration, Betty continued her active involvement in the church.
Betty also volunteered with the Henley Island Helpers and was a cheerful presence serving food and snacks to many young rowers from across North America.
She was a wonderful seamstress and baker and knitter. Betty liked to travel, especially to visit her family in England.
Betty suffered a stroke in 2018 and was subsequently cared for at Niagara Gardens and later at Linhaven. The family would like to thank all the staff at Niagara Gardens and Linhaven for all their excellent care and compassion.
A Celebration of Betty’s life will take place at 2 PM on Friday December 10, 2021, at The Church of the Transfiguration, 320 Glenridge Avenue, St. Catharines, (COVID restrictions apply, masks required). According to Betty’s wishes cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church of the Transfiguration or Community Care of St. Catharines & Thorold.
