Stembridge, Betty Ann (Mash) age 91 passed away December 17, 2021 in Sudbury at Health Sciences North.
Betty was born and raised in Copper Cliff and graduated from the Copper Cliff High School in 1948. She then trained to be a registered nurse at Hamilton General from 1948 – 1952. In 1955 she married Malcolm Stembridge (1931-1990). They lived in Sudbury and raised their three children there. Betty worked at the Sudbury General Hospital in the nursery and neonatal unit for 35 years. She was involved with the Girl Guides of Canada as a Brownie leader and commissioner and took Lockerby Brownies to camp every summer. Betty spent many years doing pastoral care for the Church of the Epiphany where she worshipped. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend Betty always made people smile, she loved to laugh and enjoyed a good joke. She loved to bake, especially at Christmas and sharing her baked goods with friends and family always made her happy. Betty loved to travel and had visited Hawaii, Australia, the Caribbean, Florida, England, Israel and China.
Betty will be sadly missed by her children, Mark Stembridge (Liz Dow), Sue Duff and Sandra O’Brien (Michael), her beloved grandchildren, Dustin (Jessica), Denen, Kevin and Kayla and her great grandson Harrison, her sister Jean Atchison of Ottawa, nieces and nephews in Canada and England and by her many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm Stembridge, her parents Bertha and Alfred Mash, her sister Edna Walberg and her son-in-law Bob Duff.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and PSWs at Health Sciences North for the care Betty received in her final days.
