Ouellette, Benjamin “Benny” – Age 79, of Middle Stewiacke, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 16, 2021, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born in Hanover, New Hampshire, May 1941, he was a son of the late Eileen (Graham) Stewart, of Newton Mills.
He was a carpenter-contractor all of his adult life having built homes, churches, and numerous renos in the Stewiacke Valley and beyond. He was part of the Upper Stewiacke Fire Department for many years. He was a very sociable and cheerful person who loved his family, his neighbours and his community.
Benny is survived by his children, Julie Allen (Jim), Halifax; Troy Ouellette, Florida; his grandchildren, Sydney, Owen, Cora, Emma and Chloe. He is also survived by his twin brother, Frank Ouellette (Gloria), Maine; sisters, Judy Vealey (Charlie), Florida; Linda Romer, North Carolina; and sisters-in-law, Marion Cox, Penny Reckards; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna (Ellis); and his brother, David Reckards.
A special thanks to all the nurses and doctors in Truro for their kindness and compassion for his care in his final days.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. Due to the pandemic, a funeral service will be postponed to the late spring when a service will be held in Eastville Cemetery by invitation only. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation or a charity of your choice.
