BEGG Stuart Alexander June 14 1941 – November 8 2021

BEGG, Stuart Alexander
June 14, 1941 – November 8, 2021
Stuart was born in Kamloops B.C. on June 14, 1941 to Marjory and Alexander Begg. In 1950 Stuart moved with his family to Merritt, B.C. It was here that he met and married Margaret Tingle in 1962. Stu and Margaret were blessed with 2 children while living in B.C. In 1973, employment prospects lured the young family to Cochrane and he spent his working life specializing in the sawmill and pipemill industries as well as at Nova Chemical. In his retirement years, Stu and Margaret enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona where many cherished friendships were made. Many summers back in Canada were spent working at Dinosaur RV Park in Drumheller where he enjoyed staying active and socializing with the many guests.
Stuart definitely was a family man. In their early years, Stu took the kids on many fishing, camping, skiing and family trips where many great memories were made. Later, when his grandson Alex came along he continued to share many good times fishing in Campbell River, summers spent at Shuswap and golfing in Yuma. Stu truly enjoyed raising his children and that enjoyment was enhanced with the arrival of his grandson Alex! Stu was an avid supporter of all things Alex and made a positive and lasting impression on his grandson. Just when it seemed that the “apple of his eye” could not be any sweeter, along came Stu’s great granddaughter Lily. This little girl had her Pa wrapped squarely around her little fingers and both of them loved it. Lily made her Pa’s face light up! The bonds he shared with his own kids only grew as Alex and then Lily joined his family.
In his early years Stu was a member of the Lions Club in Cochrane and later was a member of the Cochrane Legion where he enjoyed playing poker. Saturday nights were “Guys’ Night” spent at Darren and Alex’s watching the UFC fights and eating homemade ribs or whatever the boys had made as the “house special” for that evening. Anytime spent with family and friends sharing stories and laughter was where you would find him.
Stu leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret (Tingle), daughter Cindy (Dave), his son Darren, grandson Alex and great granddaughter Lily, sister Sydney Turmel of Merritt, B.C., brother Dennis (Sandy) of Vauxhall, AB as well as numerous relatives and dear lifelong friends. Stu was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Ted Begg, sisters Connie Britch and Sandra Moyes.
Stuart was a very kind man, always willing to help others and remembered for his sparkling eyes and easy laughter and teasing. He was a very warm man with arms that would envelop you in the most loving bear hugs. He leaves a void that will never be filled!
Dad, you will be missed immeasurably and never forgotten. We love you!
