It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Baxter John Kennedy announce his passing on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Corner Brook Long Term Care at the age of 86 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and living memories his children: Joanne, Jerry (Karen) and grandson Johnathon (Sabrina), great-grandsons: Alexander and Dominique; his only sister Edna Clarke; brothers-in-law: Robbie (Edna) Blackwood, Harold Blackwood and Eugene (Melvina) Blackwood; sisters-in-law: Verna Kennedy and Ruby Sturge; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Frances Kennedy, parents Eli and Francis Kennedy, brother Roddy Kennedy, parents-in-law Pearce and Ida Blackwood, brothers-in-law Eleazor Blackwood, Doug Clarke, Lem Gillingham and Lee White, sisters-in-law Maisie Blackwood, Mary White and nephew Craig Kennedy. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Tuesday, August 10 at 2-4 & 7-9 PM, a maximum of 30 people at one time. The funeral service will take place at First United Church, Park Street on Wednesday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John van Vliet officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to NL West SPCA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
