Barbara Plenderleith Carruthers McBurnie
Barbara (Hunter) McBurnie passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London Ontario, on Saturday, September 25, 2021, in her 89th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend of 59 years, Iain McBurnie. Loving mother of Stuart (Tom Beaton) McBurnie of Dorchester.
Dear sister to eight brothers and sisters, Barbara is predeceased by Ritchie, Nancy, Elizabeth, Isabel, Edgar, Ruby, John and is survived by brother, Robert, and extended family in Scotland and Vancouver. Barbara’s final years were enjoyed at Dorchester Terrace where she thrived building friendships with fellow residents and staff alike.
Barbara will be sadly missed by all those she touched with her smile, compassion, and friendship.
At Barbara’s request there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will take place at Dorchester Union Cemetery, Dorchester, Ont. at a later date. Stuart and Tom wish to thank all the staff at Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion provided to Barbara at the end of her life journey and a very heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Dorchester Terrace for making Barbara’s final years such a special experience.
