Barbara Yoffe 2021

Barbara Yoffe
(née Harris)
With grace and dignity, our Queen, Barbara Harris Yoffe, passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family by her side in the early hours of Sunday, April 4, 2021, after a brief illness, at the age of eighty-six. Daughter of the late Dr. Sol Harris and the late Lillian Simon Harris. Devoted wife and soulmate to her pussycat, Moe, for sixty-five years. Beloved and exceptional mother and mother-in-law of Bruce Yoffe and Ileana Edelstein, Dr. Norman Yoffe and Kimberley Ratte, Linda Yoffe, Sandra Yoffe and Johnny Shaikin of Los Angeles. Adored Grandma of Ryan Yoffe and Brittney Hoffman of Denver, Evan Yoffe, Arianna Yoffe, Sean Yoffe, Sam Shaikin and Leah Shaikin of Los Angeles. Cherished great-grandmother of Ledger and Piper Yoffe of Denver. Sister and sister-in-law of Dr. Gordon and Dr. Phyllis Harris of San Diego, the late Rhoda and the late Edward Lazare of Toronto, and sister-in-law of Peter and the late Eleanor Brotman of Toronto. Barbara will be sadly missed by her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Golda Tradounsky of Palliative Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital and Dr. Bernie Unger for their professionalism and care for our mother. Heartfelt gratitude to her group of angels who cared for their ‘Queen B’ with such compassion: Alison from the CLSC René-Cassin, Emmanuelle from NOVA Home Care, Jill from Mount Sinai Hospital, and Barbara’s wonderful caregiver, Sarah. You all treated Mom with such respect and we are forever grateful. The family would also like to sincerely thank our extended family and amazing friends and colleagues who have shown us such love and support over the last few difficult weeks. Contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made to NOVA Home Care at www.novasoinsadomicile.ca/waystogive.
Mom, you were truly our Matriarch. You were our guiding light and our moral compass. You were the most selfless person, always thinking of others, and taught us all to embrace your lessons of showing empathy and kindness to others. You and dad created a strong family unit encompassed in love and support, which we know you were very proud of. It is now our turn to carry on your legacy in the manner which would make you proud. Rest well, Mom. You earned it and deserve it. You dictated the terms to the end and went out exactly how you wished. You will always be our brave hero and will be missed and loved, but will never, and can never, be forgotten. You will live in all of us forever.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Barbara Yoffe 2021..
