Barbara Laureen Hoad Saturday September 18th 2021

HOAD, Barbara –
Peacefully with her family by her side at Extendicare Oshawa on September 18, 2021. Barbara was born in Port Whitby on August 3, 1936 to the late Leonard and Jessie Hoad. She is predeceased by her sister Lillian Sargant (Lawrence). She will be fondly remembered by her niece Debra McCormick (Bob) and nephew David Sargant (Susan). Barbara was the cherished aunt of Julie Sargant (Dan McGrath), Rebecca Sargant, Michelle McLeary (Tim), Lawrence Sargant (Julia) and proud great aunt of Lilli, Eric, Lorelei, Emma and Hailey. A bookkeeper by trade, she worked with Whitby Post Office, Ralston Purina and Durhamdale over the course of her career. She was a vocal advocate for the equal treatment and pay of working women and enjoyed spending time with her extended family. Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff of Extendicare Oshawa for the excellent and compassionate care that she received over the years. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby on October 13, 2021 from 12 – 1pm followed immediately by a memorial service in the chapel at 1pm. She will be laid to rest with her parents at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery (Port Whitby). If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society and condolences may be expressed online at wctownfuneralchapel.com.
