BUCZEK, Barbara Elaine (nee Cook)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barb on February
1, 2021 in her 80th year at home with her loving family by her side.
Barb was a dedicated wife to Joseph Buczek for 59 years and leaves
behind her loving children Cindy Monkhouse (Terry), Steve Buczek, Kim
Graham (Mark), Michelle Buczek Smith (Katrina) (the late Doug Smith).
Treasured Gramma to Matt, Mike, Cody, Jake and Noah.
Predeceased by her parents, Merab (nee Allan) and Russell Cook, as well
as her brothers Ed and Jimmy. Beloved sister of Eleanor Wickham (late
Patrick), the late Shirley Newman (Cy), Fran Crawford (late Dave), Bruce
(Sam) & Bonnie Cook. Sister in law of Ted & Marlene Buczek, Chester
Buczek and the late Helen & Bill Lenko. Barb will be deeply missed by
all her nieces, nephews and friends.
Barb met Joe when they worked at Dominion Store on Wyndham St in Guelph.
Through the years Barb worked at many jobs, her first and foremost was
taking care of her children. She enjoyed her years working with the
Guelph Campus Co-op, University of Guelph, she owned and operated
Buczek’s Landing at Guelph Airport, as well as Buczek’s Wholesale until
herself and Joe retired.
Barb had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She had a passion
for cooking, baking, gardening, reading, playing cards and travelled to
many places over the years, including 13 winters in Puerto Vallarta,
where they have their “Brisas Family”.
We would like to thank our family and friends, especially Jim Haennel,
Kathy and Don Elliot, for their love and support during Barb’s illness.
Thank you to Dr. Seybold, Dr. Albion and Dr. Le. We also extend our
gratitude to Bonita, Sandra and Dr. Ruddock of Bayshore Home Care, as
well as Ann, Bianca, Tish, Judy, Agusta, Gina, Maybelline, Katie, Janet
& Yvonne of Peace of Mind Care. And of course Peggy of WWLHIN, for mom’s
personal care.
Cremation has taken place as per Barb’s final wishes. Due to Covid-19
restrictions a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In
lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Lung Association and Covenant
House would be greatly appreciated by the family. Condolences and
