Obituary of Avis Bruce
The passing of Marilyn “Avis” Bruce of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Don Bruce, occurred on September 4, 2021 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on August 19, 1932 in Bath , NB , she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Laura (Butterfield) Robinson. Avis was a member of Greenwood Drive Baptist Church as well as the Fredericton Botanic Garden . She worked at Service New Brunswick (Motor Vehicle) for many years. She was an avid Bowler and enjoyed attending social gatherings.
Avis is survived by her siblings, Eloise Craig, Barbara Fowler, Velda McSheffery (Gerald), Dianne Robinson-Hansen, Judy Nixon (Fred), Cheryl King and Terry Robinson (Rosalind); sister in law, Margaret Anne Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Avis was predeceased by her siblings, Arnold Jr. Robinson, Phyllis Schriver, Glenna Murphy, Alta Jean Robinson; and brothers in law, George Craig, Kenneth Schriver, Roy Murphy, Gordon Fowler, Ross Hansen and Dale King.
A Memorial Service will take place at Greenwood Drive Baptist Church, 150 Greenwood Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cook officiating. Interment will take place in Marysville Baptist Extension Cemetery . For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Greenwood Drive Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Oromocto Public Hospital, Pine Grove Nursing Home and the Paradise Villa for their care and compassion shown to Avis.
