Obituary
It’s with much sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, and friend on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Aubrey “George” passed away suddenly, but peacefully at home in Blackhead at the age of 73 years. Predeceased by parents Harold and Mary Earle, mother and father-in-law Bride and Gordon Snelgrove. Sisters Phoebe and Hazel, and most recently his loving wife of 48 years Joan (September 4, 2021). Leaving to mourn devoted daughters Sharon (Todd) and Georgina (Ray). Grandchildren Breanna and Brandon (Father Fred) and Michael, all of which he loved endlessly. As well as sisters Bessie (Jake – deceased), Dot (Morley – deceased), Margaret (Fred), Winnifred (John) and Jean (Bernard – deceased). Brothers-in-law David and Terry (Linda) Snelgrove and sister-in-law Karen (Andre) Halliday. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Also remembering special furry friends Tazz and Daisy. George spent much of his life working with the Canadian Coast Guard as a lighthouse keeper across the province. He was a true example of someone who loved his job. George loved telling stories of his experiences on various lighthouse stations and the many friends he made along the way. Special thanks to all the staff at Shea Heights Pharmacy and Dr. Stephen Darcy of the Shea Heights Community Health Centre for their exemplar care over the last few years for our dad. We thank you all so much for your help, support, and guidance. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SPCA in his memory – as all his family and friends could attest to his love of animals. Funeral Service will take place at Wesley United Church on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021 at 11:00am with an inurnment to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. “When you would see George driving down the road with the dog on the front seat of the truck, he was living his best life.”
