Obituary of Astrid Pedersen
Pedersen, Astrid – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, on May 10th, at home, in her 94th year, after a short illness. At the same time we rejoice her arrival in heaven after a life well lived.
She leaves behind her daughter Linda Fitz (Herb), her grandchildren Sarah, Nicole, Alex (Kat), Marcus, and Katie. Six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews in Denmark. She was predeceased by her husband Niels and sons Jim and Earl and her sisters Elsa and Inger.
She was born in Bornholm, Denmark; met her husband on the mainland and together moved to Canada. They were dairy farmers for many years and then “semi” retired to a smaller farm where she supported dad’s ideas on retirement. She embraced the Kinsman and Kinette Club of Campbellford and was an active and supportive member for many years. Together they hosted events with the same enthusiasm showed to friends and neighbours. The coffee pot was always on!
After dad passed, she moved to Niagara with her daughter and called Beamsville her home. She joined Dunlop Seniors and kept her days filled with cards, bingo, bus trips, etc. Hostessing family and friends was her calling and she always made everyone feel welcome and well fed.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid there will be no visitation. If you would like as an expression of support to the family donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or your local food bank would be appreciated. Details entrusted to Tallman Funeral Homes, Vineland Chapel.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Astrid
