On December 9, 2021, Art Ruymar, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 years, at The Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong BC. Art moved to Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong to be closer to his immediate family in Vernon BC in March of 2021, after the passing of his wife, Lorene Ruymar.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Marjory Gwendolyn April 9th, 1977, and his second wife Lorene Lillian June 9th 2020, and his daughter Gail Duncan, August 17th, 2016. He is survived by his son, Ronald Ruymar, granddaughters Denise Bernier, Michelle Vien, Rhonda Ruymar, Kelsey Petersen, grandsons Cole Ruymar, James McGibney, & Julien Petersen, stepson Bill Petersen, stepdaughter Kathereyn Petersen, and many great grandchildren.
Art was an avid Hawaiian Music lover and played the Hawaiian Steel guitar, both locally and internationally with his wife Lorene. Through his music he met very many people who became dear friends to him, especially throughout Vancouver. He was a person who was always ready with friendly hello and would give a hand if needed. Many have enjoyed the celebratory cards he would make & send to them on their special occasions, and signed “Grumpy”. He enjoyed cooking for everyone, and some of his roast beef, and baked salmon dinners were spectacular. In his latter years, quite often, he would be found at the White Spot in the Oakridge Mall in Vancouver having his favorite, Blueberry Waffles, with extra blueberries.
Art is to be cremated by Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services in Vernon, and a “Celebration of Life” will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Arthur William Ruymar December 9th 2021..
