Arthur Leighton ‘Roy’ 2021

With profound sadness, the family of Arthur (Roy) Leighton announces his passing at Champlain Manor, Orillia, Ontario on Thursday, March 25, 2021 in his 88th year after a mercifully short, but brave, battle with cancer. Roy leaves behind his wife Barbara (nee: Hamill), love of his life. Father of Mark and wife Tarrah and adored grandfather of Samuel. Father of Susan and husband Michael. Uncle of Scott and Nicola Osborne and children Peter and Erin. Uncle of Jan and Ken Janisse. Especially remembered by sister-in-law Ferne Osborne and husband Robert, cousins Jean Morrison and Rosemary Dennis (nee: Leighton). Grandfather to Melissa, Nicole, and Cameron, and an uncle to Donna Hewitt and family.
Roy was born in Toronto, Ontario to Ivan and Dora Leighton (nee: Sproule). He remained very close with his late brother Andy and together they enjoyed spending time at the family cabin, hunting, fishing, and cutting wood. Roy loved the outdoors, even if just cutting grass, and kept large vegetable and flower gardens until recently leaving Uptergrove.
Roy was a quiet man with a quick smile and laugh and a warm heart and he will be remembered and missed by many.
By Roy’s wishes there will be no funeral, but in lieu of flowers, donations to the Teddy Bear Fund at the Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Home, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia (705) 326-3595.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Arthur Leighton ‘Roy’ 2021..
