Arthur Voth
June 17, 1948- July 19, 2021
Arthur Jacob Voth(better known as Art) was born on June 17, 1948 , the 6th of 8 children. Art grew up in Meadows, Manitoba in a farming community. Art suffered adversity at an early age from asthma and needed glasses which he didn’t like. Art attended a one-room school in Meadows, then continued his schooling in Rosser up to Grade 8. Due to his asthma, he was unable to continue with his education. Art worked on the farm in Meadows & Argyle. He left farming to pursue numerous and varied jobs including pouring basements, driving long-haul truck, bottling wine, car jockeying & working at Leo’s Sales & Service for 15 years alongside his brother Harry. Art was a hard worker, a trust-worthy employee and left a lasting impression with all his employers.
Art was baptized at Schoenfelder Mennonite Church, Pigeon Lake, MB in 1968. Art upgraded his education completing his grade 12 at Red River Community College. Then he acquired his Diesel Mechanic’s papers at Brandon College. After many years of working different jobs, he still had not found his passion and felt unfulfilled. He gave up his well paying job, and attended Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Sask. There he found his passion of the ministry.
Through a common friend at College, Art became pen pals with Kuan Sing in Taiwan. We know how that story ended. She was the love of his life! They got married in Montreal on September 14th,1991. Art completed his Master’s Degree in Divinity at the College. He was ordained as minister at Schoenfelder Mennonite Church.
Art & Kuan Sing’s goal in life was to spread the Word of God. Art had a great love for people and an amazing ability to connect with everyone from homeless to the elite. He was one of the spiritual guides at Siloam Mission in Winnipeg’s inner city working with the homeless. His dry sense of humor could take the tension out of any situation. Art was the most generous and kind spirited person you would every meet.
Art became pastor of Evangelical Mission Church in Fort St. John, BC until his retirement. Unfortunately Art passed away before he could embark on his retirement career. Art passed away on July 19, 2021 at Fort St. John Hospital.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and nurse’s aides for their care & compassion. A special thank you to Susan for her loving care, and the special church family in Fort St. John.
Art was predeceased by his parents, Jacob & Mary Voth, mother- in- law Mrs. Ma, sister Lena, sister Tina & brother-in-law Erwin Letkeman, niece Eva Spence.
He is survived by his wife Kuan Sing, brothers Otto(Eleanor), Harry, Albert(Brigitta), sisters Anne Douma(Ken) and Irene Wagner(Clarence), brother-in-law Jonas and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews & 2 aunts.
Today, we say thank you to God for the life of Art, husband, brother, uncle & friend.
Art, you will always be in our hearts, and your kind spirit and quick wit will forever be missed. We Love You.
