Surrounded by his wife and two children, Arthur “Art” Vallier passed away peacefully at the age of 86 in the Palliative Care Unit at Bluewater Health on September 27, 2021.
Art is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn (Flowers) and his two children, Brenda Horton (Dale) and Kevin Vallier. Art was a very proud papa of his four grandchildren Ryan Harrison, Tim Horton (Jess), Carly Horton (Brett), and Camryn and Rachel Vallier. Art was also the proud great grandfather of London and Lochlan Harrison. Art is also survived by his sister-in-law Rita Vallier and brother-in-law Jim Flowers (Joanne).
He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Bertha Vallier and his siblings Robert Vallier, Gladys Vieno (Henry) and Carol Coulombe (Donald).
Originally from Timmins, Art relocated to Sarnia in the mid-1950’s where he began delivering milk for Silverwoods Dairy. Art eventually retired from a long career at Imperial Oil. Always active in his community coaching minor sports and serving for years with the local Bluewater Optimist Club, Art was known for his sense of humour, kindness and love of his family. He loved his country music (never missed an opportunity tell you Shania Twain was from his hometown of Timmins), his dog Scruffy, and his Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays.
Carolyn, Brenda and Kevin extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Withers, Dr. Ali, and also Dr. Lilly, nurses Joanne and Chris and the entire Palliative Care Team at Bluewater Health. Your professionalism, kindness and compassion helped us through this difficult time. Art also received extraordinary care at home from the VON nurses.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation and service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line in Sarnia on Saturday, October 23.
