It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Arnold (Ziffle) MacDonald, 60, on Sunday, February 28, 2021.
Born in North Sydney on December 11, 1960, he was the son of the late Clarence (Jack) and Violet (Maxwell) MacDonald.
Arnold worked at National Sea for over 20 years. He also worked for ACAP, Gillis Fisheries, and the last 5 years at East Coast Rope.
He was well known in the community, playing both hockey and baseball. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He loved his family and all his great friends.
Arnold was a die-hard fan of the Montreal Canadiens, and everyone was a plumber.
He leaves behind his loving wife Angie (Verschuren) MacDonald, and his son Russie. Also left to mourn are his sister Helen, brother Johnny (Jackie), and special nieces and nephews Jean, Alex, Paddy and Alesia, mother-in-law Petronellie Verschuren, and several brothers and sisters-in-law. He will be sadly missed by his best bud Jake.
Besides his parents, Arnold was predeceased by his sister Barbara and his brother Clarence, and father-in-law Cornelius Verschuren.
His family will receive visitors on Friday, March 5, 2021, from 2-4 pm in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St. Sydney Mines. Covid restrictions will be observed at the funeral home.
