Arnold Leslie “Arnie” Vaughan
– 82, of New Minas, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in
the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with his “good
wife”, Bonny by his side. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the
late Kenneth and Alice (Pudsey) Vaughan. He served with the RCMP
“O” Division in Toronto. He then became the youngest Chief
of Police in Seaforth, Ontario. He was President of both A. L. Vaughan
Transport Inc. and A. L. Vaughan Investigations Inc. in New Minas. He
was also Counsellor and Coordinator of Safety with Crosby House
Society and a Program Assistant with Ledge Hill Treatment and Recovery
Centre. His door was always open for anyone battling addictions and he
never gave up on anyone. While in law enforcement, he received three
commendations for youth work, drug enforcement and apprehension of a
murder fugitive at gunpoint. He enjoyed playing the fiddle at many
variety shows and benefits and was well known for playing his
favourite tune, “Orange Blossom Special”. He is survived by
his wife, Bonny (Coldwell); two daughters, Sherry (Jeff) and their
children, Becky, Amber and Kaylan, Ontario; Estelle (Brian) and their
children, Heather and Shawn, Ontario; a son, Arnie Jr.
“Sonny” (Rose), Ontario; a brother, Vance (Elaine), Great
Village; two step-daughters, Amy (Kirt) and their children, Anderson,
Emma, Jemika and Mason, Canning; Andrea (Jason) and their child,
Sylvie, Kentville; aunt, Barb Sherman, New Minas; numerous great
grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by
two sons, Garth and Glen Ray; three brothers, Dean, Clarke and Alvin;
a granddaughter, Jenna. Cremation has taken place. There will be no
visitation. The funeral service will be held at a later date to be
announced. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam
Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
