Arne Haldin Friday November 19th 2021

Arne was born in Sudbury in 1934. He was the son of Hilma (Ripatti) and Edwin Haldin both predeceased. As a young boy, he lived on the family homestead at Clearwater Lake. Later, the family moved into the city and Arne attended College Street Public School and the Sudbury Mining and Technical School. He was a well-known athlete participating in all sports and excelling particularly in basketball and football. He was known as the “Flying Finn”. He went on to play football for the Sudbury Hard Rocks Team. He married Emily Neville in 1958. Arne worked for Inco and Falconbridge. For several years, he worked for Cominco in Calgary, Alberta. After returning to Sudbury, he worked for the Region of Sudbury and retired from Extendicare Falconbridge. During his retirement years, he loved to golf and to skate. He was predeceased by his infant son John (1960). He is survived by his wife, Emily and two sons, Michael and Robert both of Sudbury. Donations to the Sudbury Food Bank would be appreciated.
