Brian Sidney Arndt passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
Brian is survived by his wife Janlyn, his children Dale (Anne), Kelly (Simon), Scott (Angela), Jocelyn (Darryl), Jay, and Jennifer (Matteo), his grandchildren Rylie, Rachel, Sarah, William, Margot, Aidan, Kyla and John and his siblings Dallas (Gladys), Gordon and Pat. Brian was predeceased by his father, Fred, mother Emmeline, his sister-in-law Florence and brother-in-law Harvey.
Brian was born on July 29, 1940 in Edmonton. He grew up on a farm east of Millet and lived there until 1975. While he lived within the same 40 kilometer area his entire life he traveled to five continents and spent many winters as a snowbird. In his younger years he played broomball, curling, and saxophone in the Leduc Community band. For over 30 years he was dedicated to the Lions Club, first as a charter member in Millet, and later in Wetaskiwin where he was awarded Lion of the Year. He also volunteered with the Wetaskiwin Air Cadets, chaperoned high school band trips and coached several of his kids’ sports teams. Even though he left the farm 45 years ago, he never lost his love of the land. After farming, he roamed central Alberta with Normart as a salesman/part owner and then with his gravel truck business. Brian loved walking, going for coffee, travelling, golfing, buying vehicles, playing cards, and being with his soul mate Jan. He cherished his family and could be found at his grandkids’ sports games or recitals. Over the last few years, he learned to Facetime to continue being connected to everyone. His loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church, Leduc, the Stollery Children’s Hospital or the Cross Cancer Institute.
