Arlene’s Obituary
McKay, Arlene Cora – Age 72, of Millville Kings Co., passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, she was a daughter of the late Willoughby and Alice (Crocker) Gates. Arlene was a hardworking, kind soul. She was always very giving of herself and would go without to give to others. She taught her family to always be very respectful of others but to also stick up for yourself when needed. Arlene loved fishing and had an especially green thumb when it came to gardening whether it be a flower or vegetable garden. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Fred, Millville; sons, Allen (Myra), St. Catharine’s, ON, Chris (Martha), Hamilton, ON; daughter, Michelle (Kerry) Whelan, Tremont; sister, Penny Gates, Aylesford; brother, Carl (Sue) Gates, Wilmot; five granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Rebecca, Marissa, Brittany, & Alyshia. Besides her parents, Arlene was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Margie, Ruthie & Janet; brothers, Merril and Fred. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., Middleton, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
