Ardythe “Marlene” Reid
1939-2021
Ardythe
“Marlene” Reid, of Wolfville, passed away in the Valley
Regional Hospital, Kentville on November 22, 2021. Marlene was the
daughter of the late Lewis and Vera (Spicer) Taylor. She was born on
June 11, 1939, in Sheffield Mills and moved to Kingsport at an early
age.
Marlene is survived by
her daughter, Marian; son-in-law, Ian Reid, and grandson, John Reid,
all of North Alton; brother, Lawrence “Laurie” Taylor (Joan)
of Waverly; sisters-in-law, Laura Taylor of Cow Bay and Cheryl-Ann
Reid of Kentville; brother-in-law, Ivan Reid (Janet) of Greenwood;
several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband
of 60 years, John Reid; brother, Keith Taylor (Kingsport); and
brothers-in-law, Earle Reid (Janet) (Halifax), William
“Bill” Reid (Gloria) (Digby), and George Reid
(Kentville).
Marlene graduated from
Kings County Academy “KCA”, Mack Business College, and the
Cornwallis Inn Beauty Salon. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and
homemaker, and enjoyed all crafts, especially rug hooking. Marlene was
also an avid gardener and took great pride in her lawns and flower
gardens. She was an active member of the Willing Hands of St. Thomas
Anglican Church and the Hilltoppers Group, both of Kingsport. She was
always quick to lend a hand and appreciated the company of her many
friends and family.
The family would like
to express their gratitude to the wonderful neighbors and friends who
looked out for Marlene and John during their later years, to Dr. Ben
Sabine and Dr. Mary Keating, EHS Paramedics and the nursing staff at
the Valley Regional Hospital. A graveside service is scheduled for
Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Habitant Cemetery,
Rev. Maya Bevan officiating. Following the service, a reception will
be held in the Lloyd Memorial Centre located at 29 Main Street,
Kingsport. A video webcast of the service will be available at 11:00
a.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Family flowers only, by request.
Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Blood Services, St. Thomas
Anglican Church, or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements
have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville. In accordance with the Nova Scotia Proof of Full
Vaccination Policy, proof of full vaccination will be required to
attend visitations, services and receptions held in or by the White
